The Bench That Gives is a product that is creating
a buzz from B’More to DC and beyond.
It has been described as doing for community what the pink ribbon has done
for breast cancer awareness. The Bench represents a cross-community partnership
with Gutierrez Studios in Clipper Mill, and the Ingoma Foundation working in
Oldtown East B’More to design and produce high-end products for market
while training individuals from economically struggling communities to produce,
design, market and distribute these products, and eventually own the
means to production through a cooperative model.
During Baltimore Fashion’s Night Out, the Bench will make an appearance
and provide a high style backdrop for the fashionistas attending Fashion’s Night Out.
Nationally Recognized portrait and fashion photographer Tobechi Tobechukwu
will do a fashion shoot with all interested attendees on the bench for 90 minutes
during the event at the Intercontinental. For a ten dollar donation that will
support the Bench That Gives Apprenticeship, each fashionista will have
the opportunity to get their swagger on during a dynamic fashion photo shoot
with Tobechi and will receive a glossy photo and the opportunity to order
additional prints or high res images from Tobechi Studios. “Models” can
elect to do an individual or group photo shoot.
